青年强，则国家强。青年是祖国的未来、民族的希望，也是党的未来和希望。

习近平总书记在党的二十大报告中强调，当代中国青年生逢其时，施展才干的舞台无比广阔，实现梦想的前景无比光明。

作为新时代的青年，必须要稳当地将历史的接力棒接到自己的手中，将自身的发展融入国家的建设中、融入时代的发展中。

青年是时代发展最蓬勃的动力，时代呼唤担当，民族振兴是新时代青年的历史责任。

新时代的中国青年如何堪大用、担重任？

来自北京大学的汪栎宬在《少年会客厅》中给出了他的答案。

“世上无难事，只要肯攀登。”胜利属于不怕困难、勇于不断迎接挑战的一方。

汪栎宬在《少年会客厅》第二季第5期的节目中发表了题为《山就在那里（The Mountain is There to be ）》的演讲，讲述了他对中国青年挑战无极限、征服不可能的“攀登精神”的理解。

The Mountain is There to be

山就在那里

To our generation of youths, China

致吾辈中国青年

Do you remember still

曾记否

Swimming mid-stream, we struck waves to impede

到中流击水

That boats which passed at flying speed

浪遏飞舟

In my primary school, we received our diploma

小学时，我们以一种特别且富有意义的方式

in a unique but meaningful way

拿到毕业证书

We climbed to the top of a ten-meter rock-climbing wall

我们爬上了一面十米高的攀岩墙

I couldn’t quite remember if I managed to reach the top all by myself

我不太记得我是成功靠着自己的力量登顶

or was pulled up by the teacher after exhausted

还是在力竭后被老师拉了上去

But I’m sure that from then on

但我很确信，从那以后

climbing has taught me a good lesson of life

攀岩给予了我人生的重要一课

To do rock-climbing, one must take every step steadfastly

攀岩者必须步履坚毅

Never too hesitate so you could save your strength

既不能太过犹豫，从而节省力气

never too casual so you could consolidate at every step

又不能太过随意，从而步步为营

While going up, use your creativity to find a good route

向上的过程中，需要充分发挥想象力寻找路线

then reach out with deliberation and confidence

然后审慎、自信地出手

I’m pretty sure that rock-climbing was dedicated as the last lesson of childhood

It is also a good lesson

that fits into the expectation towards the youth generation of China

Impelled by such spirits

在这样的精神的感召下

I joined the Mountaineering Association of Peking University

我在今年加入了北京大学学生登山协会

known as “Mountain Eagles Club”, as a freshman this year

即“山鹰社”，成为一名“小鹰”

With trice trainings a week on strength, endurance and climbing

一周三次训练，针对力量、耐力、攀爬

it is challenging but rewarding

社团既充满挑战，又收获满满

I was deeply impressed by the spirit inherited in the association

我深受那传承于山鹰社

as well as the mountaineering history of China

与中国登山界的精神鼓舞

to confront the storm and soar in the sky like eagles

存鹰之心，志在高远

In May 1960, Wang Fuzhou, Gong Bu, Qu Yinhua,

1960年5月，王富洲、贡布、屈银华

aged 24 in average

三位平均年龄只有24岁的中国登山队员

reached the top of Mount Qomolangma

成为第一支从“不可攀越”的北坡

from the “unsurpassable” northern slope for the first time in human history

登顶珠穆朗玛峰的队伍

It was a time when the world is having an eye on this newborn regime

彼时，我们年轻的中华人民共和国正被世界所注视

The three youths from China managed to demonstrate the enterprise and fortitude

三位中国青年，以他们卓越的成就

of the Chinese nation with their tremendous achievement

展现了中华民族的踔厉奋发、勇毅前行的精神

58 years after that, in May 2018

58年后，2018年5月

the mountaineering team of Peking University, again, reached the top

北京大学登山队再一次

of Mount Qomolangma from the “unsurpassable” northern slope

从那“不可攀越”的北坡登顶珠峰

Times changed, spirits remained

时过境迁，精神不灭

The mountain’s connected generations of Chinese youths

山，联结了代代中国青年

with the grit and dedication to go faster, higher, stronger.

以勇毅的精神与奉献的担当，向着更快、更高、更强的目标前进

Now we are pressing ahead towards the second centenary goal

如今，我们正朝着第二个百年目标砥砺前行

to build a modern socialist country in all respects

全面建设社会主义现代化国家

On the course ahead, mountains of various altitudes await to be conquered

前路漫漫，千峰百嶂有待征服

green technology, chip technology, national security

绿色科技、芯片产业、国家安全

complete reunification, enhanced modernization, Chinese rejuvenation…

完全统一、深入现代化、民族复兴……

Our generation of youths are granted with

我们这一代中国青年生逢其时

incomparably broad stage to display our talents

施展才干的舞台无比广阔

and incomparably bright prospects of realizing our dreams

实现梦想的前景无比光明

With mind sharpened, body toughened

文明其思想，野蛮其体魄

we’re to take our steps up

步履铿锵，我们当奋发向上

In mountains, I ploughed through bushes

山峦叠嶂间，我曾穿越木丛

Ups and downs, branches scratching my arms

上下求索中，枝杈蹭着双臂

The journey was far from enjoyable, harsh and monotonous

旅途并非那般愉悦，更多的是艰苦和单调

But when suddenly my sight broadened

然而，当视野豁然开朗

when suddenly I looked back at the meandering route behind me

当回首漫漫来路

a voice of overwhelming impetus echoed in mind

脑海中瞬时充满了强劲的动力

The mountain is there to be, why can’t its conqueror be me

山就在那里，为什么不去攀登呢

人生就是不断攀登、不断成长的过程

攀上岩墙的最顶峰，才能拿到自己的毕业证书，这是汪栎宬小学毕业时经历的“毕业礼”。

汪栎宬表示，他已经不太记得当时是靠自己的力量登上岩顶，还是在力量用尽之后被老师拉了上去，但是他唯一确信的是，攀岩给予了他人生很重要的一课。

同一块岩壁，1000个人会有1000种攀岩路线，只有自己抬起头，才能发现属于自己的方向。

每走一步，你都要为结果负责，都要为下一步准备，只有专注于脚下的每一步，才有机会登顶。如同人生，我们需要走稳、走好、走远。

当自己在家长、老师的见证下成功登顶，拿到毕业证书的时候，汪栎宬感到非常开心。在他看来，自己登上的不仅仅是高高的岩墙，而是在克服了种种困难的情况下，不断挑战自我的人生升华。

来自《少年会客厅》的汪栎宬告诉我们：

加入山鹰社以后，汪栎宬一直能感觉到社团里面对于“坚持“和“毅力”这种品质的推崇。

平时，他会在社团内进行严格的体能训练，比如跑步、跳远、单双杠、引体向上、定向越野等，登山锻炼了汪栎宬的意志和品质，也培养了他团结协作的精神。

脚踏实地，努力行稳致远。

“圆梦”的征程不会一帆风顺，青年不可避免会遭遇各种难题。

但在攀登的过程中，其实每一步都算数。不只有在登顶的高光时刻，过程中所有的成长都是值得的。

我深受那传承于山鹰社与中国登山界的精神鼓舞，存鹰之心，志在高远。

一代又一代的中国青年登顶珠峰

2018年5月15日，喜马拉雅山脉在初夏清晨迎来了年轻的声音。

当北京大学山鹰社的12名队员在珠峰顶端喊出“北大精神，永在巅峰”时，中国与世界为之震撼。

历史永远记住了这一刻。

The mountain’s connected generations of Chinese youths with the grit and dedication to go faster, higher, stronger.

山，联结了代代中国青年以勇毅的精神与奉献的担当，向着更快、更高、更强的目标前进。

在登顶的光荣背后，他们付出的是超乎寻常的努力，面对的是对身体与精神的双重极限挑战。26万千卡，98800步，882层。这是时任山鹰社登山队队长庄方东印象最深刻的三个数字。

除了日常训练，登山队每个周末都前往京郊拉练，或在香山进行负重训练，或参与昼夜88公里越野，从清晨行走到黄昏。在南门外的王克桢楼，登山队员的汗水永远留在了层层台阶上。

1960年5月25日凌晨，王富洲、贡布和屈银华在被称为北坡最后一道“鬼门关”的“第二台阶”搭起人梯，以冻伤切除脚趾和手指的代价，换来人类首次“北凌绝顶”。

山鹰社代表的不仅是北大精神，更是中国的青年一代。珠峰不会是他们攀登的最后一座高峰。

在学术科研与文化传承的使命上，在国家建设和民族复兴的征途上，还有无数高峰等待大家去挑战。

Our generation of youths are granted with incomparably broad stage to display our talents and incomparably bright prospects of realizing our dreams. With mind sharpened, body toughened, we’re to take our steps up.

我们这一代中国青年生逢其时，施展才干的舞台无比广阔，实现梦想的前景无比光明。文明其思想，野蛮其体魄，步履铿锵，我们当奋发向上。

奋斗是青春最亮丽的底色，行动是青年最有效的磨砺。一往无前、永不止步的攀登精神，一直流淌在我们中华儿女的血液中。

怀抱梦想又脚踏实地，保持昂扬奋进的精神状态，或许在人生的某一阶段，我们会遇到挫折，会觉得生活进入了黑暗期，但是山就在那，我们的目标也在那。

只要一直向前走，最终我们都会登上自己心中的那座珠峰！
